Big news here at RecondOil.
SKF Group has acquired RecondOil, putting a tremendous amount of power behind the advanced cleantech developed by our company. Just one more way for our green technology to begin to make a serious difference in the near future.
SKF is, of course, one of the leading bearing manufacturers in the world. They employ 44,000 people around the globe in their five primary industries: bearings, lubrication systems, mechatronics, seals and services.
RecondOil is known for our patented DST technology and our ROCCO Slop plants, both of which have been used with success to regenerate oil to incredible purity regardless of its initial condition.
A Wise Move by SKF
Quoting the President and CEO of SKF, Alrik Danielson: “This acquisition is a good strategic fit for us. It complements our existing offer around the rotating shaft and will strengthen our ability to offer customers a fee-based value proposition, in which lubrication management systems play an important role.”
“The acquisition is also in-line with our ambition to develop and offer solutions that help customers reduce the environmental impact of their own operations. By bringing together RecondOil’s technology with SKF’s scope and industrial expertise, we will be able to industrialise this offering.”
All things considered, the move doesn’t seem as surprising as it might. While RecondOil was still in the start-up phase we’ve proven time and time again that our DST technology have world-changing potential.
The acquisition by SKF puts capital and recognition behind the name.
More than that, SKF Group is in a prime position to use the technology as intended to create a circular economy of oil through the use of rotating equipment and extensive lubrication management.
Of course, the acquisition wouldn’t have happened if there was no benefit for the bearing manufacturers.
It’s not just environmentally responsible… it’s a good financial move. Since SKF already works with bearings and lubrication systems the infrastructure is in place for our companies to create something truly great.
Greater Scope and Fulfilling Potential
The limitations of start-ups are apparent everywhere in the business world. No matter how game-changing technology is there’s always a problem with scope and scalability.
With RecondOil having been bought by a multi-billion dollar corporation it’s hard to argue that our technology will remain niche much longer. Our field tests have been exceptional from the very beginning.
Those are impressive numbers for a start-up but not enough to bring the technology to the world at large just yet.
While it’s still in the air, the hope is that world-changing DST and Slop technology, backed by the enormous financial power of SKF Group, can begin to make a real dent in the amount of CO2 and environmental destruction caused by the constant need for petrofuels.
The only thing limiting this reality in the past has been finances. As time goes on, we believe that we’re looking at a world where oil is used time and time again and the acquisition of the company has only sped up the pace as we head towards the next stage.
A circular economy of oil, in which lubrication oils are removed and regenerated. Oil as a service instead of being a costly drain on both the finances of manufacturers and the natural environment.
The future is coming thanks to SKF, and we’re glad to be on board.
A Bright, Green Future Ahead
RecondOil’s focus has always been on reducing the environmental impact of lubrication oils through the use of our patented DST process. The chemical and filtration process has already changed the way that many of our clients think about oil.
While many questions remain on just where we’re headed we do know this: the acquisition by SKF can only represent good things moving into the future.
Our focus on greener methods of recycling oil, making it usable again instead of allowing it to fade until it ends up as bitumen or fuel oil as it goes down the chain, falls perfectly in line with SKF Group business and the environmentally-conscious options that they wish to offer their customers.
The future's looking brighter, greener, and better every day and this is just the next step on the road to a brand new way of thinking about oil.
